Following the conclusion of the fifth Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdańsk, Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, Mayor of Gdańsk and member of the European Committee of the Regions (EPP), underlined the crucial role of local and regional authorities in supporting Ukraine's recovery and its path towards European Union membership.

Reflecting on the conference, Dulkiewicz highlighted that the event brought together nearly 7,000 participants from around the world, making Gdańsk a global meeting point for Ukraine's reconstruction efforts. She also welcomed the strong presence of the European Committee of the Regions, stressing that the conference delivered more than dialogue.

"This was not only an opportunity for numerous discussions and exchanges of experience, but also for the signing of concrete agreements and partnerships between Ukrainian local authorities and their European counterparts."

Dulkiewicz emphasised that the continuous exchange of knowledge and best practices between municipalities and regions is helping Ukraine strengthen its local governance and move closer to accession to the European Union.

The Ukraine Recovery Conference is the leading annual international event dedicated to mobilising political, financial and technical support for Ukraine's recovery, reconstruction and reform. The 2026 edition, hosted in Gdańsk, placed particular emphasis on the role of municipalities and regions as key partners in rebuilding Ukraine and preparing the country for EU accession.
