The EPP-CoR Group welcomed to the European Committee of the Regions a group led by Hendrik Jensen, District Chairman of the Junge Union Wandsbek and member of the CoR Young Elected Politicians (YEP) network. The Junge Union Wandsbek, the youth organisation of the CDU in Hamburg’s Wandsbek district, brings together young people committed to active political engagement at local level.
During their visit, the group had the opportunity to learn more about the work of German EPP members in the European Committee of the Regions and to exchange views on a range of pressing issues. Discussions focused in particular on housing, inclusivity, and the role of local and regional authorities in responding to citizens’ everyday concerns.
The EPP-CoR Group also welcomed a group from Härryda, Sweden, affiliated with Moderaterna. Participants discussed the work of Swedish EPP members, with particular attention to competitiveness, digitalisation, artificial intelligence, democracy, and the green transition. The visit also featured a debate on the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) and the role it can play in addressing local challenges, including the need for improved connectivity.
These exchanges once again highlighted the importance of bringing local and regional perspectives to Brussels and strengthening dialogue with young political leaders from across Europe.
