The historic Paris Agreement under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change was welcomed by the EPP Group in the European Committee of the Regions today.
"This is an ambitious yet flexible and balanced approach" Michael Schneider, President of the EPP Group in the CoR, said. "We specifically welcome the reference to the effort made by cities and other subnational authorities with regards to both mitigation and adaptation to climate change and a move towards the new model of global climate governance, which should be based on the principles of multi-level governance. Indeed, adaptation is a global challenge faced by local, subnational, national, regional and international dimensions. We will continue to spread good practices from Europe's regions and cities whilst demonstrating our political will for implementing this agreement on the ground."
