Cohesion Policy ensures that all Member States, regions and cities – from the less developed to the most developed – are able to benefit from the advantages offered by the European Union. It is one of the strongest and most visible expressions of European investment and solidarity in our cities and regions. A strong Cohesion policy is therefore an integral part of the solution for a more responsive and democratic Europe.
This workshop aims to demonstrate the need to maintain Cohesion Policy as the EU’s main investment policy tool, and will look at its future shape. It will also look at what can be done to bridge the investment gap, and explore how the potential of strategic long-term investments in Europe’s regions and cities can be further exploited, notably via synergies with other European investment tools such as the European Fund for Strategic Investments.
