Programme

Given the different economic, social and environmental features of the European Union, a “one size fits all” solution for the EU budget must follow a place based approach in order to respond to the needs of municipalities, cities and regions. We also want a pragmatic and visionary budget, where the EU´s added value can be understood by the citizens. With this purpose in mind, the European Commission has published the Reflection Paper on the future of EU finances on which the CoR is currently preparing an opinion to be adopted early 2018. A new draft budget beyond 2020 is expected to be released by the European Commission during the first half of 2018. Opening: • Michael Schneider, President of the EPP Group in the European Committee of the Regions and rapporteur on The Future of Cohesion Policy beyond 2020 Contribution from the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union: • Tomislav Donchev, Deputy Prime Minister of Bulgaria Keynote speaker: • Günther Oettinger, European Commissioner for Budget and Human Resources Reactions from the European Committee of the Regions and European Parliament rapporteurs: • Marek Wozniak, Vice-President of the EPP-CoR Group, Marshall of Wielkopolska region • Jan Olbrycht, Vice-Chair of the EPP-EP Working Group on Budget and Structural policies Discussion with members
