Fostering a stronger sense of European identity based on the cultural and territorial diversity of our continent is an indispensable precondition for a more dynamic European Union. This high-level debate, hosted by the Bulgarian members of the EPP-CoR Group and head of the delegation Tanya Hristova, will explore how to strengthen EU values by investing in education, skills, entrepreneurship and digitalisation at local and regional level.
Given the different economic, social and environmental features of the European Union, a “one size fits all” solution for the EU budget must follow a place based approach in order to respond to the needs of municipalities, cities and regions. We also want a pragmatic and visionary budget, where the EU´s added value can be understood by the citizens. With this purpose in mind, the European Commission has published the Reflection Paper on the future of EU finances on which the CoR is currently preparing an opinion to be adopted early 2018.
