The EPP/CoR Group will welcome 30 Master students for the duration of the May Plenary Session as part of its communication activities for 2011.
The students, who were selected from hundreds of applications, are all enrolled in Master courses with specific relevance to EU regional policy and were selected on the strength of their motivation texts – from meeting local and regional representatives to experiencing first hand the exciting activities and debates which develop during Plenary Session.
The main topics for discussion will be the future of the Common Agricultural Policy and the Europe 2020 strategy, two essential pillars in the greater European debate for which the EPP has rapporteurship and which are of key relevance to European citizens.
Erwin Mohr, Member of the Local Council of Wolfurt (Austria) will chair a debate with the students and a representative from the European Commission on the future of the Common Agricultural Policy. In parallel a session on the Europe 2020 strategy will be led by Constance Hanniffy, Member of the Offaly County Council (Ireland) and coordinator of the EPP/CoR Europe 2020 Task Force.
The EPP Group is convinced that the study visit continues to be a promising and successful activity which helps bring Europe closer to the young generation. Coming together from all over Europe for two days, these students represent Europe's next generation of decision makers.
