For its first youth activity in 2007, the EPP Group held a competition for students in higher education on the theme "Do you speak Europe?" on the eve of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome in 2007. The purpose of the competition was to invite students to create a brochure for the wider public explaining what the European Union means for young people, how it is understood by them, how it functions, and what kind of role they see for regions and cities in the European integration process.
The winners were invited to take part in the second round of the EPP/CoR Summer University for local and regional journalists in 13 June 2007 and the brochures were translated in all EU official languages to enhance distribution.
Winner - Alena HECKER from Germany.
