The EPP-CoR local dialogues aim to bring the EU closer to citizens by raising issues of immediate interest to local communities. Within this framework, the Partido Popular de Galicia, in collaboration with the European People's Party (EPP) group in the European Committee of the Regions, will host a dialogue to analyze the challenges of access to housing, along with the roadmap implemented by Galicia in this area. To this end, the measures adopted by the Xunta de Galicia, the proposals made by the party, and how Galicia has become a model for European regions in terms of housing access and emancipation will be presented.

This dialogue will take place in the city of A Coruña, known for its characteristic peninsular geography, where housing access and rising prices have a significant impact on emancipation and rental affordability for students and young professionals. Additionally, the alarming increase in squatting has caused profound legal insecurity among landlords, most of whom are small property owners. As a result, a significant number of properties have been withdrawn from the market, drastically reducing supply and leading to higher rental prices.

To address this issue, the Galician public administration has been implementing an ambitious plan since the beginning of this legislative term. With the approval of the current budget, efforts are being made to propose solutions for citizens, especially young people.

The Partido Popular de Galicia, as the party most closely aligned with the interests of the Galician people, recognizes the urgency of this issue. This dialogue will invite analysis and reflection from different perspectives and stakeholders, with the goal of outlining a roadmap for Galicia.
